{"id":25654,"date":"2026-04-27T12:40:37","date_gmt":"2026-04-27T03:10:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/?p=25654"},"modified":"2026-04-27T12:40:37","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T03:10:37","slug":"multi-factor-authentication-mfa-keep-you-and-our-university-safe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/2026\/04\/27\/multi-factor-authentication-mfa-keep-you-and-our-university-safe\/","title":{"rendered":"Multi-factor\u00a0authentication\u00a0(MFA): Keep you and\u00a0our\u00a0university\u00a0safe\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Passwords alone are no longer sufficient to protect against skilled cyber attackers. \u202fMulti-factor authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security by requiring users to verify their identity using two or more of the following factors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Something you know (password\/PIN) and<\/li>\n<li>Something you have (mobile device\/authentication app\/security token)<\/li>\n<li>Something you are (fingerprint\/ facial recognition)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>MFA helps you to prevent<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unauthorised access to your account<\/li>\n<li>Data breaches and identity theft<\/li>\n<li>Misuse of Flinders\u2019 systems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What you need to do:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure MFA is set up on your account.
