Flinders University lecturers will open their classrooms to fellow academic staff over the next six months in a new program aimed at showcasing teaching styles.<\/p>\n
The Open Classroom Scheme will give the University\u2019s academic staff the opportunity to observe and discuss colleague\u2019s teaching styles and learning outcomes.<\/p>\n
Project Manager for the Centre for University Teaching (CUT) Helen Stephenson said this was a unique opportunity for academic staff to learn from one another by promoting outstanding teaching styles within the university.<\/p>\n
\u201cCUT has received a lot of feedback from staff who value the opportunity to discuss different approaches to teaching and learning with colleagues from other disciplines and faculties,\u201d Ms Stephenson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cDiscussing what is observed often leads to new ways of thinking about teaching and learning, and hopefully encourages new and engaging teaching approaches.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Stephenson said academic staff using innovative ways to engage with students were encouraged to \u2018open\u2019 their classrooms and share their teaching methods.<\/p>\n
Guests attending open classrooms were asked to provide feedback either in writing or in a group discussion with the Open Classroom teacher, she said.<\/p>\n
