{"id":7804,"date":"2016-11-01T12:15:56","date_gmt":"2016-11-01T01:45:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/?p=7804"},"modified":"2017-06-21T18:49:52","modified_gmt":"2017-06-21T09:19:52","slug":"2017-flinders-university-researcher-mentoring-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/2016\/11\/01\/2017-flinders-university-researcher-mentoring-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"2017 Flinders University Researcher Mentoring Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Expressions of interest (EOI) are now open for academic and research staff who wish to participate as mentors or mentees in the 2017 Researcher Mentoring Scheme (February-December 2017).<\/p>\n<p>EOIs need to be lodged by 2<sup>nd<\/sup> December 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Mentoring is a strategy to support the careers of Flinders researchers who are early-career and those transitioning to mid-career status.<\/p>\n<p>Each mentee is assisted in developing and maintaining a one-on-one mentoring partnership with a mentor, who is a senior Flinders academic and matched based on a mentee\u2019s expressed requirements.<\/p>\n<p>To date, mentoring has positively impacted on ECRs\u2019 well-being and research profile, including grant income and publications.<\/p>\n<p>Mentees have reported that the scheme has enhanced their ability to plan their research career, set goals, lead, manage and collaborate.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>My mentor\u2019s research area is very niche and she has built an international reputation in the area \u2013 so I have some great insights into strategy to get research noticed, building capacity, and strategic opportunities to take advantage of.<\/strong> \u00a0<\/em>Mentee, 2015<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>I got some great mentoring on strategic networking both within and outside the university which I had no idea about.
