{"id":9339,"date":"2017-09-08T12:49:55","date_gmt":"2017-09-08T03:19:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/?p=9339"},"modified":"2017-09-11T10:23:00","modified_gmt":"2017-09-11T00:53:00","slug":"grass-is-greener-in-a-replenish-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/2017\/09\/08\/grass-is-greener-in-a-replenish-economy\/","title":{"rendered":"Grass is greener in a \u2018Replenish Economy\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Imagine a world where Gross Domestic Product is no longer the standalone benchmark of a nation\u2019s success; where economic prosperity is no longer measured by what a country generates, but by what it <em>re<\/em>generates.<\/p>\n<p>This is the kind of world being imagined and delivered by Dr Tia Kansara, an award-winning entrepreneur, lifestyle consultant and policy advisor, who will delivering the 2017 Flinders University Investigator Lecture on 28 September.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Kansara is the pioneer of the \u2018World Replenish Index\u2019, an innovative new metric designed to support the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of regenerative lifestyles.<\/p>\n<p>The Index dictates that financial investment be shifted to products and services that are 100% compostable and that have a positive, replenishing impact on the natural world.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Replenish Economy\u2019 is one that transcends GDP to reinforce environmentally conscious behaviours that help cities adapt to climate change and become smarter, more sustainable metropoles.<\/p>\n<p>Referred to as a future-forward &#8216;community architect&#8217; and \u2018ecosystem engineer\u2019, Dr Kansara\u2019s philosophies have already been adopted by a number of significant global entities including Coca-Cola, Bloomberg, the European Commission, Forbes, Formula 1, MIT, <em>The Economist<\/em> and Siemens.<\/p>\n<p>The theme of her lecture, <em>Replenish: A philosophy, a cause and action,<\/em> will explore the use of the World Replenish Index to achieve economic success.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Kansara\u2019s principles for contemporary living have a deep resonance with research being undertaken in industrial transformation and diversification at Flinders University.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr Kansara\u2019s visit to Adelaide reinforces and re-energises our focus on sustainability,\u201d says Professor John Spoehr, Director of the Australian Industrial Transformation Institute at Flinders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur innovation precinct at Tonsley is one of Australia\u2019s most awarded sites for sustainable re-use and design and a hub for cutting-edge research on novel applications of new technology to solve environmental challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr Kansara\u2019s visit has immediate relevance to our work in supporting businesses and governments to thrive in an adaptive economy and capitalise on opportunities to address climate change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The annual Flinders University Investigator Lecture is an important part of Flinders\u2019 public education program and contribution to the cultural life of South Australia.<\/p>\n<p>The South Australian community will be able to hear Dr Kansara speak at the Hilton Adelaide on 28 September from 5.30pm-7.00pm.<\/p>\n<p>Entry is free but registration is essential.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/events.flinders.edu.au\/show\/event\/2017-investigator-lecture\">Register now<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Imagine a world where Gross Domestic Product is no longer the standalone benchmark of a nation\u2019s success; where economic prosperity is no longer measured by what [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":436,"featured_media":9348,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[115,114],"class_list":["post-9339","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorised","tag-dr-tia-kansara","tag-flinders-university-investigator-lecture"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.6 -
