The medical program is busy around the NT. First and second year students have completed semester one and third and fourth year students are progressing through placements across clinical sites. Learning in the second semester builds on the knowledge and skills gained earlier in the year as students become familiar with the week by week rigor of knowledge based learning, or the clinical context of the program.<\/p>\n
In the past month we also welcomed six\u00a0prospective Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students for the Flinders University\u00a0Preparation for Medicine Program (PMP). This 10-day\u00a0pre-medical school program is run in partnership with Poche SA+NT<\/a> and Yunggorendi <\/a>– Flinders\u2019 Indigenous student engagement office. Prospective students were introduced to the Flinders MD and NTMP, including clinical skills, lectures and anatomy sessions in the purpose-built lab. They met Darwin staff and students and were linked into the support networks available to help them if they pursue studying medicine.<\/p>\n PMP participants developed an understanding of the commitment that is required to study medicine, and the support network that awaits them if they choose to enrol in the Flinders MD.<\/p>\n
