Dear Colleagues,<\/p>\n
This month we farewell\u00a0Dr Julie Halbert<\/b><\/a>, and acknowledge her significant contributions to developing and improving the Flinders MD.\u00a0 Julie joined the College of Medicine and Public Health (CMPH) in 2020 as the\u00a0Heaslip Fellow<\/i><\/a>\u00a0tasked with evaluating the medical course. A few months later, this evaluation turned to\u00a0clinical placements for medical students in the time of COVID\u201019<\/a>\u00a0with Julie,\u00a0Professor Alison Jones<\/b><\/a>\u00a0and Liam Ramsey<\/strong> (former FMSS president) publishing reflections in The Medical Journal of Australia.<\/p>\n Julie was subsequently appointed as Senior Lecturer (Evaluation and Monitoring) and joined the MD Directorate earlier this year. In this short time, Julie has significantly impacted MD teaching and assessment, including:<\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0strengthening connections with the NT Medical Program<\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0collaborating with FMSS to ensure student-centredness of the medical course<\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0multiple program evaluations<\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0development and alignment of the clinical placement model for SA and the NT<\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0leading the professionalism working group<\/p>\n Julie has kept us all focussed on the big picture. She helped to articulate our\u00a0shared vision and mission for the Flinders MD<\/a>\u00a0and has ensured our continued alignment with the\u00a0AMC Standards for Assessment and Accreditation of Primary Medical Programs<\/a>.<\/p>\n I would personally like to thank Julie for the work she has done and the support that she has provided to me, Academic and Professional staff, our clinical colleagues and the medical students across the Flinders axis.<\/p>\n (Recruitment\u00a0<\/a>for the Level C Lecturer position will begin shortly.)<\/p>\n Your questions and feedback are welcome.
