Flinders college executives visit remote NT sites

Professor Kitson visit

As part of the collaboration between Flinders NT and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Flinders NT enjoyed a visit from the Vice President and Executive Dean Professor Alison Kitson, together with Associate Professor Christine Brebner, Dean (Education), and Ms Taicea Agnew, Head of College Services.

During their week-long trip, they were hosted by Associate Professor Narelle Campbell, Ms Monica Barolits-McCabe, Associate Professor Sue Lenthall and Ms Gemma Porteous, in visits in and around Darwin, Nhulunbuy and Katherine.

Seeing the more remote towns really gave the visitors a sense of the breadth of student learning opportunities available and the challenges that accompany these. The visit has facilitated strategic opportunities for closer partnerships with government, community-controlled and private health service providers.

The aim is to increase the support from Flinders to the allied health and nursing workforce and to students on placement in the Northern Territory in order to build a stronger NT workforce pipeline.
The group plan to return in a couple of months to undertake further key meetings. This investment of time from senior Flinders executives demonstrates their commitment to supporting the effectiveness of the work undertaken by Flinders NT here in the Territory.
