{"id":1840,"date":"2018-08-14T17:32:16","date_gmt":"2018-08-14T08:02:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/flinders-nt\/?p=1840"},"modified":"2018-08-23T11:46:14","modified_gmt":"2018-08-23T02:16:14","slug":"desert-art-lights-opera-house","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/flinders-nt\/2018\/08\/14\/desert-art-lights-opera-house\/","title":{"rendered":"Desert art lights up the Opera House"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to Central Arrernte\/Anmatyerre artist and lecturer in Indigenous History at the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.crh.org.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Centre for Remote Health\u00a0<\/a>Patricia Ansell Dodds, whose artwork will light up the sails of the Sydney Opera House every night for the coming year.<\/p>\n<p>Patricia is one of six Indigenous artists who have been selected for this second iteration of the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sydneyoperahouse.com\/visit-us\/BaduGili.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Badu Gili<\/a><\/em> light installation with the seven minute animation projecting Indigenous art styles from across the country onto the Opera House\u2019s eastern Bennelong sail twice each night.\u00a0Patricia&#8217;s work (pictured above) depicts women, wild bush foods, ceremonies and the use of symbols.<\/p>\n<p>Since its launch in July 2017, <em>Badu Gili<\/em> has been experienced by more than 160,000 visitors to the Opera House, with another 620,000 people from around the world viewing the projection online.
