{"id":2224,"date":"2019-11-26T13:26:25","date_gmt":"2019-11-26T02:56:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/flinders-nt\/?p=2224"},"modified":"2020-06-22T17:24:41","modified_gmt":"2020-06-22T07:54:41","slug":"applying-social-psychology-to-wellbeing-challenges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/flinders-nt\/2019\/11\/26\/applying-social-psychology-to-wellbeing-challenges\/","title":{"rendered":"Applying social psychology to wellbeing challenges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to Centre for Remote Health Research Fellow, Mikaela Cibich, who was recently awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (Clinical Psychology) from Flinders University.<\/p>\n<p>Mikaela\u2019s PhD investigated how social identity processes influence the behavioural and psychological consequences of shame.\u00a0During her candidature, she also completed her clinical training to become a Registered Psychologist.<\/p>\n<p>Mikaela is applying her expertise in social identity processes and mental health to co-design an intervention to reduce alcohol-related harms with youth in Alice Springs.<\/p>\n<p>Recently she gave a presentation at the Flinders University College of Medicine and Public Health Emerging Leaders Showcase titled, \u201cThe design of a pilot strategy to minimise alcohol-related harms amongst youth in Alice Springs\u201d.\u00a0 It was a presentation of a project that Mikaela had been undertaking with Margaret Carey and Tim Carey. The presentation won a prize for the best poster presentation in the theme \u201cHealthy Communities\u201d. The prize is an animated abstract by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.animateyour.science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Animate Your Science<\/a>, a company that turn abstracts into an animation to improve the dissemination of findings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to Centre for Remote Health Research Fellow, Mikaela Cibich, who was recently awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (Clinical Psychology) from Flinders University.
