Have you been keeping up with the HDR development bulletin? Each week a different aspect of the Research and Employability Skills Training (REST) Program is spotlighted to help HDR students’ identify opportunities to progress with their skill development. The skills covered so far include Digital Literacy and The Research Process.

Digital Literacy (Mon 5 Aug)
The Research Process (Mon 19 Aug)
Digital Literacy
Monday 5 August
Being digitally literate is more than just the ability to use technology. It is the capacity to operate effectively and critically in a digital environment, whether that is in your social, educational, or professional life. It implies that you use technology in a critical, thoughtful, and responsible manner, recognising that skills acquired in one situation can be transferred to another across different platforms, applications, and contexts. The skills that you gain using technology while you conduct your studies, you should be able to translate to your future workplace. The Digital Literacy module provides guidance on digital literacy, detailing the most common software and platforms that you need to be familiar with during and beyond your studies, and ways that you can further develop your skills.

The Research Process
Monday 19 August
The research process is a systematic and structured approach to investigating a specific question or problem. It involves several key steps: identifying and refining a research question, conducting a thorough literature review to understand existing knowledge, designing a research methodology to gather data, collecting and analysing the data, and finally, interpreting the results to draw conclusions. This process is iterative, often requiring adjustments and revisions as new insights are gained.
The Research Process module takes you step-by-step through this process of research, through a series of short online activities on each step. This module is particularly useful for those beginning their research journey, or as a check in point for those a little further along.
