Planning and Analytical Services Update – November 2018

Intended audience: IDS staff

Although the end-of-year is fast approaching, Planning and Analytical Services (PAS) is still busy working with customers, both from Professional Services and Colleges, to deliver valuable data and insights. Two milestone achievements worth mentioning include:

  • Delivering the University’s 2019 5-Year Load Plan earlier than in previous years. This work, which determines the University’s budget, was completed with major stakeholders including Clare Pollock (DVC(S)), Sebastian Raneskold (PVC(I)) and Richard Porter (CFO).
  • Completing the first Higher Education Expenditure Transparency Submission – to begin making the cost of teaching transparent. This process could not have succeeded without collaborative efforts across Finance, Timetabling, Student Systems, Flinders Pro, P&C Systems, Academic Workload Project and PAS.

Key upcoming focus areas include:

  • Participating in the Education Quality Working Group to develop an Education Quality process that moves the focus from a five-yearly review of courses and the topics within them, to an approach of continuous review and improvement of both curriculum and teaching.
  • Running the Student Evaluation of Teaching, Graduate Outcomes and Exit Surveys – institutional student surveys that seek a range of student feedback.
