Cybersecurity Awareness in the Age of COVID-19

In times of crisis, there are always those that look to take advantage of others. With the COVID-19 global pandemic, cyber criminals and threat actors are looking for ways to exploit the situation to develop and conduct cyber-attacks. A range of threats have been identified as on the rise. These include:

  • Coronavirus-themed malware attacks
  • Phishing emails
  • Cloned websites to steal credentials

These attacks are in turn more effective during times like these, as criminals leverage fear, isolation and uncertainty. Cybersecurity experts around the globe also warn that hackers are targeting people working from home amid the virus outbreak, as the protections usually found in corporate networks are not present at home.

Further guidance on working from home securely can be found on the COVID-19 Working from home page.

In this short video, Chief Information Security Officer, Kim Valois explains what to look out for and what you can do to remain vigilant and cyber secure during the COVID-19 pandemic.
