“I learned that Flinders was the only university offering pathway diplomas that led to a bachelor’s at the location I wanted – the brand new Flinders City Campus connected to Adelaide’s business hub.”
In exploring his study options, Roberth discovered that Flinders University Academy offers a Diploma in Business – a pathway into his desired undergraduate business degree.
With business aspirations for the future, Roberth travelled from Norway to pursue his studies in Adelaide.
The course offering and central location of the Flinders City Campus were the key factors that led to Roberth’s decision to study at Flinders University Academy.
“When I was deciding where and what to study, I learned that Flinders was the only university offering pathway diplomas that led to a bachelor’s at the location I wanted,” Roberth shared.
“The brand-new city campus connected to Adelaide’s business hub is quite exciting – it’s one of a kind!”
Flinders University Academy
Roberth studied a Diploma in Business at Flinders University Academy which upon program completion provided him with a direct pathway into Year 2 of a Bachelors in Business (Marketing) at Flinders University.
Throughout the program, he gained the confidence to be successful as a university student and acquired foundational skills in marketing, accounting and finance.
The Academy provides students with a personalised learning experience where students collaborate in small groups and learn English, numeracy and study skills, and specialised subjects.
Further to facilitating international students’ adjustment to studying away from home, the Academy emphasises the importance of building strong peer relationships for a smoother transition to university.
From enrolment and timetabling to counselling services, the Academy provides a range of support services to its students – supporting their overall study journey and transition to university.

Finding Clarity and Confidence
After completing his high school education in Norway, Roberth embarked on various professional stints/jobs and, over the years, worked in multiple small businesses, which sparked his interest in business and marketing.
“I’ve always been very interested in business and pursuing the Bachelor of Business (Marketing) via the Academy seemed like the perfect option for me to dive deeper into the field.”
Initially, Roberth was uncertain about returning to an academic environment as he had been away for a significant period.
“I really appreciated the diploma pathway as it helped me get back into a school routine after being away from an academic environment for years.”
The Academy’s courses are designed to support future study and equip students with the academic confidence and practical skills required to succeed in a Flinders University degree. For Roberth, the Diploma in Business not only reignited his academic confidence but also gave him the clarity and focus to understand his long-term career goals.
Adelaide
Roberth describes Adelaide as a ‘beautiful place’ which if you have been to Sweden, know that that definitely carries weight! Crowned as one of the most beautiful cities in the world in 2024, Adelaide is renowned for its stunning blend of rolling hills and breathtaking beaches. The Flinders City Campus, where Roberth studied his Diploma, is ideally located in the heart of it all, offering spectacular views of the city skyline and the surrounding hills. It’s the perfect setting for both study and exploration.
“I really like Adelaide. It’s a beautiful place,” he shares.
While Roberth felt the occasional loneliness as an international student, the positive experiences he had outweighed the setbacks that he faced.
“The cultural exchange and learning journey in a foreign country is exciting. As a foodie and health enthusiast, the Adelaide Central Market is the perfect place to be for me!”
In his spare time, Roberth also enjoys connecting with nature in the Adelaide Hills or Glenelg Beach.

Future Plans
As for Roberth’s future plans, his ambitions extend well beyond graduation. With a strong interest in international business, economics, and marketing, he’s already charting a path that blends professional growth with personal passion.
“After graduating from Flinders, I plan to land a marketing graduate role in Adelaide then move to Switzerland to pursue a master’s degree.”
It’s a journey driven by more than just career progression. Roberth’s vision is centred on creating meaningful impact and building something of his own.
“I aspire to make a meaningful impact and inspire people – possibly running my own business and in 5 years I hope to have established a marketing agency.”
True to his entrepreneurial spirit, Roberth also values balance. His love for travel and nature sit alongside his business goals, with hopes to one day integrate them all into a fulfilling lifestyle.
And while he’s clear on where he’s heading, he remains open to the unexpected.
“In life we have concrete plans and contingencies, but things can change, so who knows?”
Reflecting on his journey so far, Roberth encourages others to consider a pathway program with Flinders Academy
“I would recommend the pathway program at Flinders University Academy, especially if you have been away from school for some time. I have found it to be a great way to ease back into academic life and prepare for further studies at university.”
