When Temitayo Adeniji decided to pursue a Master of Accounting and Finance,<\/a> he knew he wanted a university that would provide him a strong foundation to pave the way for his future career.<\/p>\n

\u201cFlinders has a high level of industry connections with global leaders, which means one will have the opportunity to take up practical placements and graduate job-ready – and ahead of the curve!\u201d<\/p>\n

A new life in Adelaide<\/h2>\n

With its positive reputation preceding it, Temitayo knew Adelaide was the city for him as an international student. He was quickly able to settle into life here.<\/p>\n

“Within my short time in Adelaide, I have enjoyed meeting different people from all over the world, learning about their cultures, [ways of dressing], and even food. I am also getting familiar with different political views, traditions, lifestyles and religions.\u201d<\/p>\n

The city’s calm atmosphere suits his preference for a relaxing lifestyle, and the community have welcomed him warmly.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people in Adelaide have really made life great here as they have been very accommodating and friendly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Why study Accounting and Finance at Flinders?<\/h2>\n

\u201cWhen selecting where to study, I read an article that Flinders have set for themselves a goal to expand their global reach through international collaborations in research and education and to continue to be actively engaged with business, industry, and communities around the world. I was immediately interested!\u201d<\/p>\n

A globally-minded university is a necessity for Temitayo, with his goal of running his own firm back in Nigeria and training young people in the world of financial management.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see this as my own way to give back to my society and make my country better\u2026 Flinders prepares you for the world ahead of you, as well as making you the best in your field.\u201d<\/p>\n

His selfless ambitions have already been rewarded, with Temitayo receiving the Flinders Vice-Chancellor International Scholarship, something which has solidified his intentions to give back to his country. Furthermore, to produce well-rounded, work-ready graduates, the Masters degree equips students with specialised knowledge across the two disciplines and invaluable industry placements.<\/p>\n

Temitayo benefits from a balance between practice and theory in his studies. With accreditation by CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), graduates are able to pursue a wide range of roles in the accounting and finance industries.<\/p>\n

“The program provides a strong foundation for top financial management roles such as Chief Finance Officer (CFO) or Finance Director, as well as for positions such as financial or business controller, analyst, treasury manager, finance business partner, and other accounting and finance functions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Life on campus<\/h2>\n

Temitayo finds life on campus at Flinders to be fulfilling and conducive to learning. He appreciates the serene environment and the up-to-date resources in the library, which are easily accessible for all. The gardens around the lake are a standout feature of Flinders for Temitayo.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is so beautiful. I mostly go there to bond with other students, to collaborate, and have quiet time. This has really made my stay better and not miss home as such.\u201d<\/p>\n

As an international student, Temitayo has experienced the university’s dedication to its students both while studying offshore and now as an onshore student. With ample online resources and International Student Services<\/a> support, the transition to on-campus student life was easy.<\/p>\n

\u201cFlinders is a great example of learning and student life made easy due to the provision of learning resources. Everything you need is on Flinders Learning Online (FLO) and you can also make use of Ask Flinders for help\u2026. The support has been massive, whether it’s in studies, job seeking, visa support, and more.\u201d<\/p>\n
