If you ask Dhin about his journey to Flinders University, you\u2019ll quickly realise it\u2019s been nothing short of an adventure. Hailing from the bustling city of Bangkok, Thailand, Dhin knew he wanted to pursue a career in the creative industries, specifically in film and television. The only question was: where?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI want to be a film director or a music video director,\u201d Dhin shares. \u201cI think Flinders suits my needs perfectly.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s where <\/span>Flinders University Academy<\/span><\/a> came in. Designed as a stepping stone for international students, the Academy provided Dhin with the academic and personal support he needed to transition smoothly into university life. By completing a <\/span>Diploma of Creative Industries<\/span><\/a>, he gained the skills and knowledge required to gain direct entry into his dream degree at Flinders University \u2013<\/span>Bachelor of Creative Industries (Film and Television)<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A Smooth Start with Flinders University Academy <\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Moving to a new country to study can be daunting, but the support from Flinders Academy made all the difference. \u201cI needed to adapt to studying in a new place, and Flinders Academy helped with that concern,\u201d Dhin explains.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The application process was seamless. \u201cIt was very easy as long as you have all the required documents,\u201d he says. \u201cThe staff were always available to assist with any technical issues.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Academy\u2019s structured courses provided Dhin with a direct pathway to his chosen degree. \u201cMost of the subjects I took at Flinders Academy transferred as credits to my first-year courses in the Bachelor of Creative Industries (Film and Television) program.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Studying at the Flinders Academy in the heart of Bedford Park, Dhin appreciates the peaceful and scenic environment of the campus. The smaller class sizes allowed him to form connections with his teachers and classmates, making his learning experience more engaging.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe student classes are small, which can be considered good for some people because optimistically the teacher will have more time to focus on each individual student,\u201d he says.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cI also enjoy spending time at the Tavern, taking in the scenic views of the hills \u2013 it\u2019s a great place to relax between classes.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Life in Adelaide as an International Student\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Dhin has embraced the experience of studying in Adelaide, appreciating the accessibility and welcoming atmosphere of the city. \u201cPublic transport, including buses and trains, makes getting around very convenient,\u201d he says. \u201cBeing an international student has also helped me improve my English, as I use it every day.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A unique highlight of his time at Flinders Academy was discovering that one of his lecturers, Benjamin Smith, speaks Spanish. \u201cIt made learning even more enjoyable \u2013 we would sometimes engage in Spanish conversations. La clase es agradable!\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Looking Ahead: A Career in the Creative Industries\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

With aspirations of becoming a film or music video director and eventually running his own entertainment business, Dhin feels well-prepared for the next stage of his academic and professional journey. \u201cFlinders Academy has given me the confidence and skills I need to transition into university life and beyond,\u201d he says. \u201cIn five years, I see myself managing my own business in the creative industry.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
