Multiple wins for Italian at Flinders

Bella Courtney wins the Premio Italia 2023
 

Congratulations to third year student Bella Courtney, who was recently announced as winner of the Premio Italia 2023, a national writing competition for university students of Italian in Australia, organised by the Italian Embassy in Canberra. 

The 2023 theme was “Italian and Sustainability” and Bella submitted a brilliant 1,500-word essay on Italian fashion, titled “La moda italiana in un mondo in evoluzione – La rivoluzione della moda sostenibile: L’innovazione delle fibre d’arancia”. 

As the winner of Premio Italia, Bella will recieve an AUD $2,000 voucher to purchase a return flight ticket to Italy offered by the Italian Cultural Institute in Melbourne.

Natasha Korbut wins Italian Consul Book Award 

Congratulations to second year student Natasha Korbut, who was the recipient of the Consul Book Award, as the Flinders student who achieved the highest marks in First Year Italian (Advanced Stream) in 2022.  

The award was presented at the Baroque Hall in North Adelaide, during an offical event concluding the 23rd Week of the Italian Language in the World in South Australia.  

“Natasha is an inspiration to her peers,” says Dr Stefano Bona, Lecturer in Italian Studies. Dr Christele Maizonniaux, Bachelor of Languages Coordinator at Flinders University, also congratulated Nastasha and encouraged her to pursue further brilliant results in her second language.
