{"id":3581,"date":"2017-05-03T09:40:30","date_gmt":"2017-05-03T00:10:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/libinfo\/?p=3581"},"modified":"2017-05-03T09:40:30","modified_gmt":"2017-05-03T00:10:30","slug":"3581","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/libinfo\/2017\/05\/03\/3581\/","title":{"rendered":"Ambulance and Emergency procedures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi everyone,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As some of you may know we had an significant 1<sup>st<\/sup> aid incident just before 5pm on level 1 of the central library.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A student had an epileptic seizure and was unconscious for a short time. Security and an Ambulance was called and the student was taken to FMC. Before he left the student was able to tell us that he was epileptic and had seizures previously.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Security on their webpages detail the process for 1<sup>st<\/sup> aid\/ emergency type incidents here:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/whs\/emergency\/\">http:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/whs\/emergency\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>A reminder of procedure when an ambulance needs to be called &#8211; because it is always hard to remember the best processes in these high pressure unexpected incidents:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Call an Ambulance using the desk or a mobile phone 0-000<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Ask a colleague if available to call security at the same time (the number is on the desk phones if like me your mind goes blank in the panic!)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>If no other colleague is available to call security press the duress alarm<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>If you can establish who the patient is get a name , address and telephone number out of ALMA, CRM or student 2 to give to the ambulance staff<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Moving forward a printout of the image below from security\u2019s website has been printed and placed inside the white cupboard door on the info desk.
