Finding academic information just got easier! The Library has refreshed its Search Support service to help students build confidence, independence, and stronger search skills.
At the heart of the refresh are new and improved Search Guides. Read on to learn more!

What’s in the Search Guides?
Designed for self‑paced learning, these guides walk you through searching step by step—whether you’re just getting started or building advanced skills. They cover key areas such as:
- Search strategies – how to plan your search, pick the right keywords, and find good academic sources.
- Where to search – which tools to use (like findit@flinders, databases, and Google Scholar) and when to use them.
- Finding specific sources – help finding peer‑reviewed articles, grey literature, statistics, randomised controlled trials, and more.
- Searching databases – step‑by‑step help to search databases (like CINAHL and Medline), choosing keywords, and narrowing your results.
- Troubleshooting a search – what to do if your search doesn’t look right.
- Specialised searching – extra support for systematic, scoping, and evidence‑based practice searches.
