Enquiries 8201 3069 or special.collections@flinders.edu.au<\/p>\n<p>Flinders University Library in collaboration with the Flinders University Student Association &amp; Empire Times present<\/p>\n<p><strong>Radical <em><\/em>Stories: The History of Flinders&#8217;<em> Empire Times<\/em> Magazine<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From its very first editorial in 1969, <em>Empire Times<\/em> has proudly numbered among Australia&#8217;s most radical, creative, and forward-thinking student magazines. In the 40th year of its existence, this special panel discussion brings three former <em>Empire Times<\/em> editors together to reflect on the magazine&#8217;s history, politics, and culture.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Andrew McHugh<\/strong> came to Flinders University in 1972. He was editor from 1973 to 1975 and has stayed at Flinders University for more than 40 years. Since co-editing <em>Empire Times<\/em> in 1982, <strong>Veronika Petroff<\/strong> has gone on to work as a journalist in the mainstream media, lecturer in journalism and in a number of communication roles in the public sector. <strong>Dr Tanya Lyons<\/strong> was the editor in 1992, the &#8220;Year of the Men&#8217;s Edition&#8221;, and is currently a senior lecturer in the School of International Studies at Flinders University.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>3 &#8211; 5pm, Friday 30 August 2013, Noel Stockdale Room, Central Library, Flinders University Free entry, no bookings required.
