{"id":862,"date":"2009-11-20T08:44:34","date_gmt":"2009-11-19T23:14:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/library\/?p=862"},"modified":"2009-11-20T08:44:34","modified_gmt":"2009-11-19T23:14:34","slug":"central-library-entry-level-redevelopment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/library\/2009\/11\/20\/central-library-entry-level-redevelopment\/","title":{"rendered":"Central Library entry level redevelopment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-864\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2009\/11\/redevelopment.jpg\" alt=\"redevelopment\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We are pleased to announce that the Library, together with Flinders Campus Community Services, has obtained <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deewr.gov.au\/HigherEducation\/Programs\/BURF\/Pages\/default.aspx\">Better Universities Renewal Fund<\/a> funding to enhance the Collaborative Learning Hub in the Central Library. Level 1 South of the Central Library will undergo a major redevelopment to create enhanced service points and incorporate a cafe area for library users.<\/p>\n<p>Building on this project will commence on <strong>Monday 30<sup>th<\/sup> November 2009<\/strong> and will affect access to the entrance level of the Central Library until <strong>Semester 1, 2010<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Detailed plans for the new project and information about the relocation of library services can be found at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/library\/change.cfm\">Library Redevelopment webpage<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This page will be updated with more information and photos as the building work progresses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The new look Central Library will include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>A <strong>Caf\u00e9 area<\/strong> in the Library      <strong>which will serve coffee, tea &amp; snacks<\/strong> during the majority of the \u00a0Library&#8217;s opening hours.<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>covered, upper level      walkway<\/strong> from the Matthew Flinders Theatre through the library building to      Red Vines Caf\u00e9 and Sage.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Student Learning Centre<\/strong> space for teaching &amp; student assistance<\/li>\n<li>Informal<strong> study spaces,      computers &amp; laptop areas<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Redeveloped library service      desks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The new design for the Central Library has been shaped by student &amp; staff feedback and we hope it will enhance services, particularly on evenings and weekends.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Temporary relocation of services<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Due to the scale of the project, Library Services (all Desks and staff assistance) will be relocated to level 0 (Plaza level) from 30th November until semester 1, 2010.\u00a0 During this time, the <strong>entrance to the library will be from the Plaza, via the 24 Hour Computer Lab door<\/strong>.\u00a0 The Library wishes to apologise in advance for any inconvenience.
