MDRI represented on World stage

Prof Mark Taylor (MDRI Deputy Director and Strategic Professor of Biomedical Engineering) and Dr Egon Perilli (MDRI Senior Research Fellow) are in Boston this week, attending the World Congress of Biomechanics (6-11 July 2014).

Dr Egon Perilli (pictured) has been invited to give a keynote presentation, ‘Investigating Whole-organ Mechanical Failure, With Experimental Testing And Architectural Characterisation In The Micro-meter Range, On Human Vertebrae: Was The Core Telling It All?’, which is a huge accolade. Dr Perilli will also co-chair the Bone Mechanics session on Thursday 10 July.

Prof Mark Taylor will be co-chairing the Orthopaedic Implant Design session on Tuesday 8 July as well as giving a presentation on ‘Methods for Accounting for Patient Variability When Assessing Fixation of Orthopaedic Implants Using FE’.

MDRI member Dr Saulo Martelli also has a poster accepted at this prestigious event.

The World Congress of Biomechanics is an international meeting held once every four years, rotating among Europe, Asia and the Americas.

This meeting provides a timely opportunity for delegates who attended the International Orthopaedics Workshop held in Adelaide earlier this year, to re-connect and continue collaborations.
