{"id":126,"date":"2012-09-27T16:00:57","date_gmt":"2012-09-27T06:30:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/mdri-news\/?p=126"},"modified":"2012-09-27T16:00:57","modified_gmt":"2012-09-27T06:30:57","slug":"hexapod-robot-wins-engineering-excellence-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/mdri-news\/2012\/09\/27\/hexapod-robot-wins-engineering-excellence-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Hexapod Robot wins Engineering Excellence Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/science_engineering\/FMDAT\/non-images\/Research\/Hexapod%20Robot%20-%20flyer.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Hexapod Robot<\/a> team on winning the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.engineersaustralia.org.au\/south-australia-division\/awards\" target=\"_blank\">2012 Engineering Excellence South Australian Award<\/a> for Innovation\/Research and Development and also the Malcolm Kinnaird Engineering Excellence Award.  The robot, based at the <a href=\"http:\/\/flinders.edu.au\/science_engineering\/research\/mdri\/\">Medical Device Research Institute<\/a> at Flinders, was developed to enhance understanding of 3D performance of normal and diseased joints and their artificial replacements by simulating complex joint motion.<\/p>\n<p>This is an outstanding achievement and fantastic recognition for the team.  The Hexapod Robot is now eligible for the 2012 National Engineering Excellence Award, which will be announced in Canberra in November.
