There were ambulance flashing lights, paramedics, student doctors and nurses and an individual on the ground being treated.

It was organised chaos, a trauma simulation organised by Flinders University Rural Clinical School (RCS) at the campus on Bay Road.

Students worked on the ‘patient’ in the carpark before they transferred them to the simulated accident and emergency training ward at the campus.

The session was co-ordinated by Interprofessional Educator Sarah Dawson, in conjunction with South Australian Ambulance Service (SAAS), Local Medical Clinical Educator, local ambulance volunteers and nursing students.

Simulation scenarios like this help students further develop their skills to set them up for future practice where they will work alongside nursing and other health professional staff.
