{"id":3333,"date":"2026-03-05T15:44:48","date_gmt":"2026-03-05T05:14:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/mph-news\/?p=3333"},"modified":"2026-03-05T15:44:48","modified_gmt":"2026-03-05T05:14:48","slug":"barossa-students-settle-into-rural-training","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/mph-news\/2026\/03\/05\/barossa-students-settle-into-rural-training\/","title":{"rendered":"Barossa Students Settle into Rural Training"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Medical students based in the Barossa Valley began their rural clinical training earlier this year, starting with an intensive orientation week designed to build confidence, clinical capability and strong connections to local health services.<\/p>\n<p>As well as on campus sessions and training, students are placed in general practices under the guidance of GP Supervisors at Kapunda, Nuriootpa, Tanunda and Angaston, and were welcomed by academic leaders, educators and support staff before taking part in their hands-on clinical skills program.<\/p>\n<p>During their first week, students rotated through practical training stations covering essential procedures including suturing, intravenous cannulation, injections, infection prevention and control, airway management and basic life support.
