The Territory\u2019s newest doctors were given a crash course in what to expect when they hit the wards as interns.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Doctors from across the NT\u00a0met\u00a0in Darwin for the two-day course \u2018Now you\u2019re an\u00a0Intern\u2019,\u00a0on December 9 and 10\u00a0which was run by Flinders NT Regional Training Hub.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Flinders NT Regional Training Hub\u00a0Manager\u00a0Eliza Gill said the workshops provided a link between the student\u2019s final year of medicine studies and working in a hospital.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe purpose of the workshop is to celebrate the achievements of final year medical students completing the\u00a0Flinders\u00a0Doctor of Medicine program, complement the fourth year Flinders NTMP clinical program aimed at developing skills for internship and lay foundations for the intern orientation programs run by Top End Health Service and Central Australia Health Service,\u201d Ms Gill said.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The invitation was extended to all doctors undertaking an internship in the NT.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\"\"<\/p>\n

The workshop was led by\u00a0junior\u00a0doctors from Katherine, Darwin and Tennant\u00a0Creek,\u00a0with the\u00a0intention\u00a0to\u00a0offer perspectives\u00a0and experiences\u00a0from doctors who are a few years into their career\u00a0to the\u00a0interns.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The program followed the patient journey from admission through to discharge.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Students also had the opportunity to put their knowledge to the test during several scenarios\u00a0including a code blue.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop ended with a celebratory social function held at\u00a0the\u00a0Beachfront\u00a0Hotel\u00a0with graduands and NT Health\u00a0junior\u00a0doctors.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
