{"id":600,"date":"2022-03-17T14:32:27","date_gmt":"2022-03-17T04:02:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/mph-news\/?p=600"},"modified":"2022-03-17T14:32:27","modified_gmt":"2022-03-17T04:02:27","slug":"nurses-participate-in-transition-to-remote-area-nursing-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/mph-news\/2022\/03\/17\/nurses-participate-in-transition-to-remote-area-nursing-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Nurses participate in Transition to Remote Area Nursing Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The first two-week intensive of the Transition to Remote Area Nursing Program (TRAN) has commenced in Alice Springs.<\/p>\n<p>These intensives, which are a mandatory component of the Graduate Certificate in Remote Health Practice (GCRHP), provide education across content areas that underpin practice within the discipline of remote health.<\/p>\n<p>The first week, is open to participants from all health disciplines, it is led by Indigenous academics and introduces Indigenous heath and the remote practice setting.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_602\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-602\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-602\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/mph-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/79\/2022\/03\/Tran-Tennant-Creek-Cultural-tour-to-Angkerle-Atwatye-Standley-Chasm-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/mph-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/79\/2022\/03\/Tran-Tennant-Creek-Cultural-tour-to-Angkerle-Atwatye-Standley-Chasm-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/mph-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/79\/2022\/03\/Tran-Tennant-Creek-Cultural-tour-to-Angkerle-Atwatye-Standley-Chasm.jpg 299w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-602\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A cultural tour to Angkerle Atwatye -Standley Chasm.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Students explore determinants of Indigenous health outcomes and the requirements for culturally safe practice.<\/p>\n<p>During the week, students visited Standley Chasm where they were taught about the flora, fauna, and cultural history of the area by Arrernte guides.<\/p>\n<p>The students also visited Purple House, an Indigenous-led renal dialysis service based on a unique model of care centred on family, country, and culture.<\/p>\n<p>The second week of the program, specifically for nurses, exposes students to the advanced clinical skills required for remote practice.<\/p>\n<p>The extended nature of remote practice requires competency in skills not traditionally included in undergraduate nursing curricula.<\/p>\n<p>The students learn from expert clinicians and get \u2018hands-on\u2019 experience using new skills in a simulated environment.<\/p>\n<p>Spots are still available for specific <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crh.org.au\/short-courses-and-workshops\/transition-to-remote-area-nursing\">TRAN programs<\/a> through out the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; The first two-week intensive of the Transition to Remote Area Nursing Program (TRAN) has commenced in Alice Springs.
