Flinders University has created a scale model of its new world class $255m Health and Medical Research Building<\/a> (HMRB), its flagship building in the Flinders Village development.<\/p>\n

The model was digitally printed by Flinders New Venture Institute (NVI)<\/a> \u2013 Flinders University\u2019s centre for innovation and entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n

Using the building\u2019s architectural files supplied by Architectus, NVI converted the files to produce a 3D printed scale model.<\/p>\n

As the Flinders Village development progresses, the aim is to create models of each of the future buildings. \u00a0This will provide Flinders University students with a unique opportunity to learn real world digital printing skills, and to see the building construction in parallel.<\/p>\n

Our new model is a great stakeholder engagement tool, creating conversation and allowing everyone to get a real sense of how the building will look once constructed. Using the HMRB model, stakeholders are provided with a detailed, 3D visual representation of the building\u2019s height and length, layout, key features and shows how it sits on the sloped site across a 14m fall.<\/p>\n

The model also shows how the thoroughfare alongside the building creates a new gateway for Flinders University from the Flinders train station to main campus \u2013 and connects Station Plaza with University Drive.<\/p>\n

The top floors of the model can be removed enabling stakeholders to see inside the building \u2013 revealing lift placement, stair connection throughout the building and the layout of a state-of-the-art wet lab on Level 4, which will house some of our world class health and medical researchers.<\/p>\n

The light poles detailed on University Drive outside the building are 13m high, providing a height reference point to for the 10-storey building model. The unique fa\u00e7ade has been created with individual pieces hand painted in ochre tones, reflecting the beautiful Rainbow Country colour palette which is part of the building\u2019s cultural narrative.<\/p>\n

Flinders University is thrilled to have this beautiful 3D model of its new Health and Medical Research Building and plans to display it publicly in the Student Hub in the coming months. The HMRB is currently under construction and will open in 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
