Dr. Justin Chalker has been named as one of five finalists for the 2017 Dream Chemistry Award. This prize is awarded to a young scientist with a chemistry background for an idea of a scientific project in the field of chemistry or chemistry-related disciplines that they dream to solve. Justin will present on his project titled “Ending Mercury Pollution from Artisanal Gold Mining” in Prague this December, along with the other four finalists from around the world.

Justin’s mercury remediation work has recently attracted quite a bit of attention, with the discovery of a new kind of plastic made from waste materials which is able to capture mercury from the environment.
