The 2021 Consilium Technology Artificial Intelligence Prize was awarded to Daniel Mayfield. Daniel conducted a thorough investigation of the Brain Interface Implementation and Motor Response Classification Methods for Outreach Workshop Applications. Daniel\u2019s research will contribute to workshops focused on correlating brain signals to human movement, an exciting opportunity for school students to gain exposure to novel STEM concepts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Consilium Technology is a leading Australian AI company creating innovative solutions that have a transformational impact in Defence and medium and large enterprises. Consilium Technology has partnered with Flinders University to encourage and recognise student research in AI by awarding the Consilium Technology Artificial Intelligence Prize.<\/p>\n

The prize offers a $1,000 cash prize and mentoring by in-house AI specialists through a paid 10-week internship at Consilium Technology.<\/p>\n

Daniel\u2019s project displayed the best and most innovative use of AI, deepest understanding of data science principles and the best use of low-cost hardware to achieve a meaningful application. Daniel has successfully translated his university learnings into the workplace environment and is already making meaningful contributions to Consilium Technology\u2019s projects within the first few weeks of his internship.<\/p>\n

The winner was announced at the 2021 Flinders University Student Innovation Expo and was open to all students completing an Honours, Masters or final year project within the College of Science and Engineering. Judging was conducted by Thomas Beltrame, a Consilium Technology Data Scientist and Flinders University Alumni.<\/p>\n

Consilium Technology and Flinders University extend their warmest congratulations to Daniel Mayfield and all applicants who applied for the Artificial Intelligence Prize. Consilium Technology is looking forward to sponsoring the prize again for the 2022 academic year, in addition to hosting Work Integrated Learning students from Flinders University.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
