I decided to study at Flinders University because of its beautiful campus and its reputation of being globally ranked for CRDS (Community Rehabilitation & Disability Studies) and the Humanities. So far, the city and the university have exceeded my expectations. The campus is beautiful and filled with greenery. O’week was great! We were connected to many other exchange students, which made it easier to make friends, and we also discovered all the clubs Flinders University had to offer. My classes so far have been interesting and enjoyable. Although half of my classes are online, we have in-person tutorials and workshops that make it more interactive and more accessible to learn the materials. As for housing, it was relatively easy to find a place here since there were many options for student accommodations around the city. Although I am farther from campus, living in the city is convenient because everything is within walking distance, and transportation here is very accessible!
I have been living in Adelaide for about three weeks now and love it here! So far, I’ve gone to beaches like Glenelg and Henley, River Torrens for a boat tour, Central Market, the Fringe Festival, Chinatown, and the South Aussie bus tour organized by the university. Although the country is very similar to my home country- Canada, I still experience some culture shocks. For instance, the slang here is something I still have to get used to. One of the things I am looking forward to is our mid-semester break in April. I plan to explore different cities like Sydney and Melbourne for the two-week break, and I am so excited!
