Benjamin from Flinders University, on a short term study tour -Environmental science and GIS investigations in Mongolian Steppes, Semester 1 2025, supported through the New Colombo Plan.
My New Colombo Plan trip to Inner Mongolia was the absolute highlight of my time at university. It offered a truly unique experience that blended practical, hands-on fieldwork with rich cultural learning. Travelling to a place I had never imagined visiting opened my eyes to new landscapes, perspectives, and ways of thinking. Along the way, I met incredible people, formed deeper friendships with my classmates, and built professional links that stretch across the globe. Working alongside international experts gave me valuable skills that will shape my career long after graduation.
I am so proud of my time on the New Colombo Plan trip to Inner Mongolia, China and would highly recommend to anyone considering applying in the future.
What was the highlight of your overseas experience?
The highlight of my experience was meeting so many kind people, experiencing their culture, sharing food and great memories
