When I think back to my time in Kochi, it feels like a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of cultural exploration, academic enrichment, and unforgettable memories. This 3-week experience was more than just a study trip – it was a journey that challenged me, changed me, and left me with stories to tell for a lifetime.<\/p>\n

The academic sessions at RSET were nothing short of inspiring. From diving into advanced topics like network security, cryptography, and blockchain technology during the engaging lab sessions, I gained new insights and skills that will undoubtedly shape my future career. But it wasn\u2019t just about academics; it was about the people. The RSET team – teachers, staff, and students – welcomed us with open arms and made us feel at home. Their hospitality was heart-warming and left a lasting impression on me.<\/p>\n

Outside the uni, Kochi offered a world of cultural treasures waiting to be discovered. Watching the Kathakali dance-drama was like stepping into a world of vibrant colours and ancient traditions. The intricate makeup, the expressive gestures, and the storytelling were unlike anything I had ever seen before. Kerala\u2019s natural beauty also left me in O-M-G. Exploring Munnar, with its lush green hills and cool mountain air, was a highlight of the trip. The night we spent together in Munnar was filled with laughter, bonding, and camaraderie – a memory I will always hold close to my heart.<\/p>\n

Of course, every adventure comes with its challenges, and mine was no exception. As a woman traveling to a foreign country, I initially felt nervous and uncertain, especially after hearing concerns from others about safety in India. However, I decided to give India a try, and I\u2019m so glad I did. From the moment I arrived, I felt safe, welcomed, and cared for. The kindness and warmth of the people completely changed my perspective and eased my worries.<\/p>\n

Another challenge was adapting to the spicy food and new eating habits, like eating rice with my bare hands. At first, it felt intimidating (and I hate to tell but my stomach didn\u2019t agree at all), but I embraced it as part of the adventure. Over time, I grew to appreciate the local cuisine and the cultural significance behind it. Staying open-minded and stepping outside my comfort zone helped me overcome these hurdles and made the experience even more rewarding.<\/p>\n

To anyone considering studying abroad, my advice is simple: Embrace the unfamiliar and step outside your comfort zone. I\u2019m only 20 as I write these words, but I\u2019ve travelled to almost 15 countries by myself. Yet, this experience felt completely different because I shared it with my Flinders friends and made new connections with the amazing staff, teachers, and friends from RSET.<\/p>\n

Be open to new experiences – whether it\u2019s trying different foods, learning local traditions, or making new friends. Immerse yourself in the culture and live like a local – it\u2019s the best way to truly appreciate the beauty of another country. Don\u2019t let fear or uncertainty hold you back; the memories and lessons you gain will be worth it.<\/p>\n
