How to take notes in lectures – a useful video from Learning Scientists

Learning Scientists is a website dedicated to learning. Much of what is written in our Evidence-based exam preparation and writing tips guide has come from that website. They are a comprehensive resource for students and teachers on the topic of how to learn better.

They posted a video very recently about note-taking in class. I’ve embedded it below.

It address the issue of whether we should type or hand-write our notes, what is a good note-taking method, the importance of dual coding for learning and how important notes are for processing material and reviewing it later.

Enjoy.

(note: this might be less relevant given we are headed into exam season, but useful information to know for next semester, or perhaps as a method you can use to take notes from what you are reading in preparation for exams).
