I’m guessing you’ve probably heard about mindfulness meditation. Want to get a taste for what it involves? Want to practice more regularly? Consider joining the Midday Meditation sessions with Oasis on Wednesdays and Fridays at 12pm. Details in the post.
Midday Meditation for relaxation and stress relief is run twice a week by one of our Oasis Team.
They are run face-to-face at the Oasis Centre.
Meditation which is a guided process focused on breathing and based on mindfulness principles. No experience is necessary, our instructor will walk you through it.
Meditation can help provide a reset to calm the body and mind. The process helps to control the monkey mind that likes to race all over the place and cause havoc with our thoughts and emotions.
Participants have noted feeling calmer, have greater clarity of thought, concentration, and perspective, and increased feelings of success and wellbeing.
Meditation in 2025
There are two meditation sessions per week in 2025 – Wednesdays and Fridays at 12.00pm.
Sessions are held at the Oasis Centre – Downstairs of the Function Centre Opposite Car Park 5.
Sessions run for 30 minutes. Perfect way to centre yourself before a busy afternoon or after a busy morning.
This is a chance to take some time out from life and study and reconnect with yourself and your intentions for the week. All welcome! 😊
The value of meditation
There is a growing body of literature suggesting that meditation/mindfulness practice for students may produce educational and psychological benefits. Taiwanese students experienced learning benefits. German students experienced mental health improvements as did Brazilian students. New Zealand students using an app experienced small improvements in distress and university adjustment. And these are just a few examples of studies that keep appearing.
Meditation practice isn’t a fix-all solution but it can be a valuable addition to your mental health and wellbeing habits. Whether you are just starting out and want to experience it first, or you already have a practice and just want to experience some variety in that practice, consider the midday meditation sessions running out of Oasis.
