In case you are thinking ‘why am I getting these emails?’
The Student Health and Wellbeing Blog is a blog (nice work Gareth, starting with the obvious).
But it’s also a newsletter. Each week (currently Wednesday) an email goes out to subscribers with an overview of the latest blog posts.
We added the newsletter component so people could stay up-to-date with what we were doing, without having to remember to revisit the blog each week.
Now for those of you that subscribed directly and recently, it won’t be a mystery why you are getting these emails.
But some of you might not remember when you subscribed and thus be confused about why you are getting these emails.
Hopefully this post clears it up.
First, many years back (I think 2018), we took those people who were on the Disability Mailing List and subscribed them to the newsletter. This is because we started putting disability news on the blog. There might be a few of you left from those days.
Second, the registration form you complete when getting a service from Health, Counselling and Disability Services (HCDS) has a tick box that asks if you’d like to receive regular news and articles from HCDS. If you ticked ‘yes’, you got subscribed to the blog.
Finally, some of you might have done Mindful Yoga with Maureen in previous years and her registration form had a similar question to the HCDS one. If you ticked ‘yes’, you got subscribed to the blog.
And look, there is always the possibility that you subscribed a while back and forgot. I do that quite often. Don’t feel bad.
What is important though is that we wouldn’t have added you randomly. There are strict rules on subscribing people to content without their permission. I wouldn’t want it done to me and so I don’t do it to others.
Now we’d like you to stay as a subscriber – the landscape of health, wellbeing and mental health services here at Flinders is always changing and we use the blog to keep students and staff abreast of these changes.
However, I am also very mindful of just how much information we all get on a regular basis and I totally understand the need to scale back. I regularly trim back my wellbeing reading list. If you need to unsubscribe, you will find an unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email newsletter. Quick and simple.
