Celebrating World Mental Health Day at Oasis

Yeah this event has passed, but it’s a good chance to alert you to the fact that pop-up celebrations like this are actually quite common on campus and following Oasis at Instagram might be a way to stay alerted to future events.

On October 9th, the Oasis Student Wellbeing Centre hosted a vibrant and welcoming event to celebrate World Mental Health Day, with the theme of community and connection.

Students were invited to take part in a range of fun and meaningful activities, including:

  • ๐ŸŽจ Community painting exploring themes like โ€œWhat does the inside of your mind look like?โ€ and โ€œWhat reminds you of home?โ€
  • ๐ŸŽฎ Video games and card games to unwind and connect
  • ๐ŸŽค A jam corner with musical instruments for spontaneous creativity
  • โ˜• A caffeinated station serving specialty coffee and matcha
  • ๐Ÿ• Free pizza and sushi to keep everyone fuelled
  • ๐Ÿง  A playful but insightful Human Bingo game with prizes, encouraging conversations around student life and mental health

I know what you are thinking – why are you telling me about this afterwards?

It isn’t uncommon for such pop-up events to take place on fairly short notice. The team did a remarkable job of creating this day with very little lead in time.

They told me they had good attendance (50+) and felt the day was a real success, bringing together students from diverse backgrounds to celebrate wellbeing in a relaxed and inclusive environment.

Thanks to everyone who helped organise and attended the event!
