Could mindfulness help you study better?

Build focus, manage procrastination and respond to study stress more effectively in this practical five-week mindfulness program for Flinders students.

Welcome to Semester 2!

Uni life can be demanding. It is easy to feel overwhelmed, lose focus or keep putting off the work you know you need to do.

Recent research supports the value of mindfulness for students. A 2023 systematic review and meta-analysis found that mindfulness programs can improve university students’ mental health, while a 2024 meta-analysis found that mindfulness-based interventions can significantly reduce exam/test anxiety.

Mindfulness for Academic Success is a practical five-week program designed to help you:

  • Improve your focus so you can stay with your study and use your time more effectively.
  • Work with procrastination by noticing the habits, thoughts and feelings that keep you stuck and learning new ways to jsut get started.
  • Handle stress more effectively—not only at university – also in your relationships and everyday life.

Across the five sessions, you will learn about mindfulness, stress, attention, procrastination and self-compassion. The program includes guided mindfulness practices and realistic strategies you can use during study, work and daily life.

You do not need any previous experience with mindfulness. You just need to be willing to attend all five sessions and try some short practices between sessions.

Groups are available face-to-face and online with several options for different student cohorts. The program is run by Flinders counsellor Chris O’Grady.

Places are limited. Choose the group at the timing that suits you and register here
