{"id":3611,"date":"2021-08-02T10:40:18","date_gmt":"2021-08-02T01:10:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/student-health-and-well-being\/?p=3611"},"modified":"2021-08-02T11:43:55","modified_gmt":"2021-08-02T02:13:55","slug":"it-is-wellbeing-week-here-at-flinders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/student-health-and-well-being\/2021\/08\/02\/it-is-wellbeing-week-here-at-flinders\/","title":{"rendered":"It is wellbeing week here at Flinders!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This week is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/students.flinders.edu.au\/orientation\/program\/wellbeing-week\">Wellbeing Week<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Now, COVID-19 put a few spanners in the works in terms of mid year orientation activities.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst we are limited in terms of what we can do face-to-face, that doesn&#8217;t mean there aren&#8217;t activities happening.<\/p>\n<p>In fact there is quite a bit happening this week, with a number of groups around the university getting creative in their wellbeing offerings.<\/p>\n<p>Leading the charge is\u00a0<strong>Flinders Sports and Fitness<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/onesportandfitness\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/onesportandfitness<\/a> who will be livestreaming classes, running competitions, offering free access to the gym this week for all students, starting a Strava community, hosting an online Q&amp;A, doing clubs promotions and providing wellbeing tips. Phew!!<\/p>\n<p>Also, stay tuned to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/oasisatflinders\">Oasis<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/FUSAssociation\">FUSA<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/hey_flinders\/\">Hey Flinders<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/askflinders\">ASK Flinders<\/a> for content they will be posting throughout the week. A particular focus this year will be giving students access to these social media channels where they can share their best wellbeing advice.<\/p>\n<p>Kinda a good time to get a Facebook or Instagram account if you don&#8217;t have one!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>And what am I doing for wellbeing week?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That is an excellent question. I&#8217;ve been put on notice that I may be called in to do a couple of interviews or livestreams, talking specifically about mental health. Those will appear via the channels outlined above.<\/p>\n<p>I am also running a Professional Resilience and Mindfulness Session with the Horizon team on Wednesday (4\/8\/21). Good opportunity to sign up to the <a href=\"https:\/\/students.flinders.edu.au\/support\/careers\/horizon\">Horizon Awards<\/a> program if you aren&#8217;t already.<\/p>\n<p>But my main job this week? I am rebuilding Oasis Online so it can become the premier &#8216;wellbeing&#8217; focused FLO topic in the system. Bold goal I know, but its worth trying.<\/p>\n<p>I am also building a new wellbeing focused program, that will be available to students in 2022, that teaches you the science of good habits.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; This week is\u00a0Wellbeing Week.
