A student survey highlighted the need, Flinders has the expertise, and now MindSpot offers a free online course to help you finally get a good night&#8217;s rest.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>I was in a committee meeting a few weeks back. In-between bouts of nodding off, I noted the results of a small student survey from last year that suggested students wanted more information on the topic of <strong>sleep<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve mentioned it a few times on <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/student-health-and-well-being\/?s=sleep\">the blog<\/a>. Flinders also has a long history of sleep research and treatments and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/fhmri\/research\/sleep-health\">FHMRI Sleep team<\/a> offer a wealth of information.<\/p>\n<p>I saw in my email today that a respected online mental health clinic, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindspot.org.au\/\">MindSpot<\/a>, now have a free <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindspot.org.au\/treatments\/sleep-course\/\">Sleep Course<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>The MindSpot <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindspot.org.au\/treatments\/sleep-course\/\">Sleep Course<\/a> is an 8-week online treatment program designed to help Australian residents over 18 years old understand sleep mechanisms and develop practical, evidence-based skills for better sleep. The course aims to help people fall asleep faster, increase sleep duration, improve daytime energy, and establish sustainable sleep habits. It includes optional weekly check-ins with trained mental health professionals and requires a commitment of at least four hours a week. Participants will learn about sleep regulation, effective techniques for improving sleep quality, strategies for managing sleep-related worries, methods to reduce daytime fatigue, and skills to address environmental factors affecting sleep. The course incorporates exercises, real-world examples, and additional resources for specific challenges, guiding participants through small, sustainable changes for significant improvements in sleep quality and overall well-being.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>While you are there, you might check out some of their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindspot.org.au\/treatment\/our-courses\/\">other courses as well<\/a>. MindSpot is one of several established online <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/student-health-and-well-being\/2024\/01\/17\/online-cbt-courses\/\">CBT focused clinics<\/a> in Australia offering free and low-cost support for different mental health and wellbeing related challenges. These services, which have been going strong for over a decade now, are likely to get a further boost from increased government mental health spending.<\/p>\n<p>Online CBT courses, built by reputable institutions, offer a pretty good way to gain valuable knowledge and insights into how to support your mental health, and gain relief from different mental health struggles.<\/p>\n<p>Some use them as a starting point for seeking help.
