October was Cyber Security Awareness month. This year’s theme “building our cyber safe culture.” With our personal and professional information at risk, it’s vital to make cyber security a daily habit at Flinders.

  • Use multifactor authentication and strong, unique passphrases.
  • Enable passkeys and review privacy settings.
  • Never share credentials or PINs.

Secure Devices:

  • Install updates promptly.
  • Back up files regularly.
  • Use reputable antivirus software.

Secure Email:

  • Watch for phishing attempts.
  • Don’t click suspicious links or open unknown attachments.
  • Change your password and enable multifactor authentication if you suspect compromise.

Stay Safe Online:

  • Avoid public Wi-Fi for sensitive tasks.
  • Limit personal info shared online and on social media.
  • Disable unnecessary geolocation and camera access.
