Flinders’ First Inclusive Celebration Day Lights Up Campus

Flinders held our first Inclusive Celebration Day on Wednesday 3 December, aligning with the International Day of People with Disability.

The event was a great success, hosted by International Student Services (ISS) in collaboration with the Flinders University Students with Disabilities Association (FUSDA) and the Career Readiness team.

The day shone a powerful spotlight on the talents, voices and contributions of people with disability, inviting students and staff alike to learn, connect and celebrate inclusivity in action.

The student hub at Bedford Park was the centre of connection, creativity and community pride. With attendees exploring a lively range of activities, including:

  • Engaging disability awareness activities
  • Interactive simulation experiences that sparked conversation and insight
  • Meet-and-greets with the Career Readiness team, Disability Services, New Venture Institute and other key partners
  • A panel of employers and graduates, sharing inspiring success stories and inclusive employment practices
  • Insights into the University Specialist Employment Partnership (USEP) program and pathways to meaningful work
  • And of course—a free lunch enjoyed among new connections and great conversations

The Flinders community came together to honour courage, amplify lived experiences and foster a campus culture where everyone feels seen, heard and empowered.

The success of this inaugural event sets a strong foundation for future celebrations of inclusion at Flinders—and we can’t wait to make next year even bigger.
