Do you have passion for your<\/p>\n<p>studies and your discipline, and want to give back? Would you like to help first year students in your<\/p>\n<p>discipline settle into their studies and get to know Flinders University and the College? We are looking for you! Join us as a Mentor in 2023.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits for mentors<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gain experience with the application and interview process<\/li>\n<li>Receive training about orientation and transition, university services, helping first year students<\/li>\n<li>Develop leadership skills<\/li>\n<li>Refine oral and written communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Be given opportunities for casual work with the University\/College<\/li>\n<li>Meet like-minded individuals in the College and develop your networks<\/li>\n<li>Give back to your discipline\/College\/University<\/li>\n<li>Support first year students through their university studies<\/li>\n<li>Receive a gift voucher upon successful completion of the Program<\/li>\n<li>Get Horizon Points<\/li>\n<li>Advertise your discipline and the University at events such as Open Day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What is the time commitment?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Approximately 40 hours across Semester 1, 2023. This includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Submitting your application in November 2022<\/li>\n<li>Attending an interview in December 2022<\/li>\n<li>Attending a 1-day training in February 2023<\/li>\n<li>Reaching out to mentees in February 2023<\/li>\n<li>Attending 1-day Orientation in O&#8217;Week, February 2023<\/li>\n<li>Mentoring for 2-hours per week in Weeks 1-6<\/li>\n<li>Mentoring 2-hours per fortnight in Weeks 7-12<\/li>\n<li>Completing of reflection\/evaluation tasks twice during the program<\/li>\n<li>Attending at an end-of-program event<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Want more information? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>More information is available on FLO, including the application form, FAQs, and a recording of the information session.
