{"id":919,"date":"2022-03-02T13:39:57","date_gmt":"2022-03-02T03:09:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/student-news\/?p=919"},"modified":"2022-03-02T13:40:09","modified_gmt":"2022-03-02T03:10:09","slug":"tertiary-blood-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/student-news\/2022\/03\/02\/tertiary-blood-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Tertiary Blood Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>1 March \u2013 31 May<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Get your blood pumping<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Are you <strong>ready<\/strong> to change lives?<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019re <strong>set <\/strong>to make a big difference.<\/p>\n<p>Just <strong>give <\/strong>blood or plasma between 1 March and 31 May with the Flinders University Lifeblood Team.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll be among 50,000 students and staff across the country in the Tertiary Blood Challenge.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s Lifeblood Teams?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lifeblood Teams brings people together to save lives \u2014 they\u2019re made up of people, like you, who care about what\u2019s happening in the world. Some donate together; others support the Team by donating on their own. Either way, we\u2019re transforming the lives of thousands of Australians.<\/p>\n<p>People like cancer patients, who depend on blood in their time of need. Whether it\u2019s to keep them healthy enough for treatment, to get them through a tough surgery, or to compensate for the effects of chemotherapy, donated blood can make a life-saving difference.<strong>1, 2, 3, Give!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Everything you need to join the challenge and book a donation can be found on the challenge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.donateblood.com.au\/lifeblood-teams\/tertiary?utm_source=intranet&amp;utm_medium=referral-teams&amp;utm_campaign=tertiary-challenge&amp;utm_content=join-challenge\">webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can <a href=\"https:\/\/my.donateblood.com.au\/app\/challenge\/details\/challenge_id\/11?utm_source=intranet&amp;utm_medium=referral-teams&amp;utm_campaign=tertiary-challenge&amp;utm_content=front-runners\">check in<\/a> on the front runners throughout the challenge and see how big an impact we\u2019re making (spoiler: it\u2019s huge).<\/p>\n<p>And the best part (other than saving lives, of course)? The snacks. Give back to the community for free, and grab a veggie roll or a bag of chips before you go.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll be competing against other teams from across the country for a spot on the podium in one of four categories:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Most donations<\/li>\n<li>Most new donors<\/li>\n<li>Most plasma donations<\/li>\n<li>Highest year-on-year growth<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Spread the word<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019ll take a team to win.
