Industry 4.0 Testlab at Tonsley for assistive technologies

The Prime Minister’s Industry 4.0 Taskforce approved the Industry 4.0 Testlab Report earlier this week.

The report outlines the key intents, concepts and recommendations associated with the development and deployment of Industry 4.0 Testlabs in line with the Taskforce objectives.  The report also supports broader participation of Australian education and industry sectors and other stakeholders in Industry 4.0 initiatives.

A testlab has been established in the award winning Tonsley Innovation Precinct in Adelaide’s southern suburbs – the former site of Mitsubishi’s automotive manufacturing in Australia. The Australian Industrial Transformation Institute at Flinders University supports the Innovative Manufacturing CRC through the Director Industry Transformation, and in partnership with the South Australian Government, the Tonsley i4.0 Testlab for Assistive Technology Solutions will support the design, application and evaluation of assistive technologies to maximise the health and wellbeing of people who are ageing and people with a disability.

The Industry 4.0 Testlab Report is available online. Pages 27-28 describe the Tonsley i4.0 Testlab in detail.
