AURIN Workshop – access, analyse and visualise data to support your decision making

At an AURIN Workshop, you will learn how to use the AURIN Workbench.  Get instant access to thousands of datasets that are quick to retrieve, easy to explore and spatially enabled.  Then analyse and interrogate the data from across disciplines in one easy to use online GIS.

The AURIN Workbench streamlines access to health, transport, housing, income, land use, demographic, geographic and much more data, all spatially enabled and integrated to work together.

WHAT WILL WE LEARN?

During an AURIN Workshop you will learn how to access and explore data and assess its suitability for your research.  We will learn how to use the AURIN Workbench tools (Map, Portal, API) that will help you analyse your data and create intelligent maps that support your decision making.  We will look at comparative analysis across health and socio-economic data and investigate the walkability of neighbourhoods.  From this we will learn how to present this information into sharable knowledge that support your decision making.

WHO SHOULD TAKE PART?

This workshop is open to all researchers who wish to learn more about AURIN and the potential to incorporate a spatial decision support aspect to their research.  No prior experience of GIS or data is required.  Researchers from any discipline considering a spatial (mapping) element to their research and decision making will benefit from taking part.

WHAT IS AURIN?

The Australian Urban Research Infrastructure Network (AURIN) is a national resource that empowers researchers, planners, policy and decision-makers to make better decisions for Australia’s urban settlements and their future development.

Researchers across Australia are using the AURIN Workbench, Australia’s single largest resource for accessing clean, integrated, spatially enabled and research-ready data on issues surrounding health and wellbeing, socio-economic metrics, transportation, and land-use; then utilising a range of powerful analytical tools in our AURIN Portal, designed by experts for the spatial research community. These tools enable a range of possible analysis such as neighbourhood walkability, spatial clustering, data manipulation and statistical analysis.

Completely free of charge, the AURIN Workbench is a secure and powerful online environment that allows all levels of government, academia and researchers to access, analyse and visualise quality data and generate meaningful knowledge – urban intelligence – the evidence base for informed decisions for the smart growth and the sustainable development of Australia.
