‘Re Aged Care’ captures CFI’s Royal Commission input

Health economics expert and Flinders Caring Futures Institute researcher Professor Julie Ratcliffe has shared an overview of her work conducted for the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety with a new online show.

Professor Ratcliffe features in fledgling program Re Aged Care which is covering changes needed in the sector following the Royal Commission’s final report handed down on 1 March 2021.

The video features on Re Aged Care’s YouTube channel as well as various social media channels.

Professor Ratcliffe was the lead investigator in two reports that were commissioned by the Royal Commission.

The first one focused on the general public’s views and expectations about what the quality of care in Australia’s aged care system should look like, and also the general public’s views on aged care funding.

The second report was an amalgamation of that prior work with research conducted in collaboration with the National Ageing Research Institute.

It focused on the general public’s expectations of what quality of Australia’s aged care system should be and what older people who are currently receiving aged care have experienced in relation to the quality of their aged care experiences.

Prof Ratcliffe and her team recently released the Quality of Life-Aged Care Consumers (QOL-ACC) and the Quality of Care Experience – Aged Care Consumers (QCE-ACC) tools which are designed to measure and value the quality of life and the quality of care experience of aged care consumers.
