Peer mentoring for Semester 1 2019

As you will be aware, peer mentoring is part of Flinders’ transition and retention strategy. However, recent changes within the colleges are likely to have had an impact on some existing roles and responsibilities, such as coordinating a degree-based peer mentoring program. In light of this and to ensure all students have access to a peer mentor, the Transition Office is continuing to run its peer mentoring program in Semester 1 for commencing students who may not otherwise have access to a peer mentor through their degree. If you are not running a mentoring program but know a continuing student who would be interested in being a mentor, please encourage them to email Transition Office to register their interest. Please also refer any commencing students who request a mentor to us.

Central peer mentor training

Just to remind those staff in the colleges who are running a peer mentoring program in Semester 1, the peer mentor training workshop is on Monday 18 February in Room 1.09, Health Sciences, from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. Please let your mentors know. Registration will be from 9.00 am. Morning tea will be provided.

For any queries about mentoring or advice on setting up a mentoring program, please email Sandra Egege or phone 8201 7676.
