English Language Program

If you have students who will benefit from additional English language classes, the English Language Program (ELP) is a great option.  The ELP is free and runs for only 7 weeks with a break in-between so that students can focus on their assignment submissions.  The modules which are available to choose from are:

  • Reading Academic Texts
  • Academic Writing
  • Listening and Discussion
  • Pronunciation
  • Grammar

All modules are available on campus with most having an online version.

Registration opens 1 March 2020 and classes begin during Week 3.  You can recommend your students to register by clicking on this link:

Embedding Resources into Topics
If you are thinking ahead for Semester 2, 2021, we can help you. We can embed useful student-friendly resources for referencing, academic writing, study skills and many more, directly into your FLO topic without disrupting your FLO contents, as this screenshot shows:

Embedded resources typically include a text description, a video resource and links to more resources.   Contact us at slss@flinders.edu.au to discuss this now so that we can put together a plan to be in place by next semester.

Embedding Resources into Assessments
We can bring resources to students to help them unpack assessments and rubrics. Watch this 2 minute video to learn more.

Drop-in Guided Study/Learning Lounge
The Student Learning Support Service is proud to introduce a new service to students this semester.  Beginning on 1 March 2020, students can drop by The Commons at Level 2 of Central Library or online via Collaborate and work on their assignments or studies.  While working in the space, students will have access to experienced and friendly advisors who can help with any academic query or problem they may have.  This flexible arrangement will provide students an opportunity to do their work and obtain the necessary advice from expert consultants in a timely manner.

The service is available on Monday – Friday 10am – 12pm and 1pm – 3pm.
