Just to remind you, your 3 best friends for teaching online are:
- Collaborate – for live, interactive web conferencing. This can be used to replace office appointments, orientation sessions, tutorials and lectures – just schedule sessions in Collaborate and let your students know to enter Collaborate via the FLO topic site – they will see the session listed. Collaborate sessions can be recorded for those students unable to attend live
- Kaltura – easy to use video program. This can be used to provide pre-recorded lectures and to provide extra instructional or pastoral support to students. If you use video to replace lectures, it’s a good idea to consider creating a series of shorter videos.
- Forums – you can use forums as a place to connect. The advantage of forums is students can access and contribute in their own time. Forums don’t need to be bland; make them more exciting by posting images, audio, hyperlinks, etc.
There are even more tips available at Online teaching – tips and support and at Good practice guides and tip sheets.
