Flinders University is the Major Education partner for DocWeek (Documentary Week), Australia’s National Documentary Festival, celebrating documentary film and television, to be held in Adelaide from 4-9 March 2014.
DocWeek is seven days of screenings, master classes and artist conversations, including a renowned documentary industry conference. Over 30 screenings will take place at several locations around Adelaide’s CBD. DocWeek is Australia’s only factual screen industry event that attracts delegates and speakers from all over the world.
This year, Flinders University is presenting the Asia Pacific New Documentary Program (a showcase of work from some of the hottest new documentary talent in the region – with all Directors in Adelaide to premier their films).
The partnership with DocWeek strengthens and acknowledges the research Flinders staff have contributed in the form of factual film making.
Dr Alison Wotherspoon is the Head of Department of Screen and Media at Flinders and believes the University’s partnership with DocWeek offers Screen and Media staff and students an incredible opportunity to engage with extraordinary, world-renowned documentary filmmakers. “This unique access enriches our understanding of documentary and gives us insight into the incredible stories in our local community and the wider world,” she said.
